Plant-based protection
Saveggy® is an innovation company revolutionizing the way food is protected, with a plant-based protection for fruits and vegetables. Our protection is made using a very thin, edible layer of only two ingredients, rapeseed and oat oil. It is free from additives and contains neither gluten nor allergens from wheat and oats.

Finally, plastic-free cucumbers
Our first product, SaveCucumber®, keeps cucumbers fresh and eliminates the need for plastic packaging, ensuring their quality from harvest to consumption. The cucumbers are harvested, washed, dried, and then gently protected with a thin, invisible layer made from rapeseed and oat oils.

Helping the
world waste less
We create solutions that extend the freshness of fruits and vegetables. This isn't just about prolonging shelf life. It's about acknowledging the value of food and the resources that go into producing it. Our mission is to reduce food waste, minimize plastic usage, and promote a more sustainable food system.

Inspired by nature
Nature has its own protection mechanism to prolong freshness. We insisted on learning from these principles and developed a plant-based protection as an alternative to plastic packaging. Saveggy forms a thin, invisible layer on the surface of the vegetable. This layer acts as a protective shield. It helps retain the natural moisture, firmness and appeal of the product, ensuring a longer shelf life.
Made in Sweden
Saveggy was founded in Sweden in collaboration with Lund University in 2020. Here in southern Sweden, at the heart of the country's food production, we are surrounded by growers and retailers' vegetable warehouses. We take pride in developing and producing our plant-based protection locally, in close collaboration with the growers.
Partners & collaborations
We collaborate with academia, growers, major food retailers and renowned impact incubators. We are proud to have received funding from the Eurostars 3 program, co-financed by the European Union’s research and innovation initiative Horizon Europe.
